Collaborative building and living has long been a regular aspect of Viennese life. In numerous urban developments, people’s individual needs and desires as regards their living space can be realized within the framework of cooperative building projects. On the site of the former slaughterhouse in the 3rd district, now metamorphosed into the future-oriented location Neu Marx, this approach is being widened to include creating workspaces within building cooperatives.
A fishbowl discussion attended by experts will explore the topic of commercial building cooperatives in Neu Marx. It will investigate the question of how we will structure our work environments together in future.

The MAK FUTURE LAB is a creative laboratory founded by the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art. Through workshops, lectures, panel discussions, and other formats the MAK FUTURE LAB generates interdisciplinary contributions to a humane shaping and utilization of Digital Modernity. It positions design, architecture, and fine art as driving forces of socially, ecologically, culturally, and economically sustainable market economy models. Through diverse cooperations, it networks these creative sectors with the fields of science, research, business, and politics.
