The group exhibition ARTIFICIAL TEARS cites a speculative, unwritten chapter of human history. The augmentation or “optimization” of the human organism is completely redefining conventional concepts and lifestyles—from business models to human life cycles, including the concept of dying. The boundary between animate and inanimate substances seems ever more implausible, as in the difference between “real” people and their media incarnations, between “original” objects and dummies. 13 artists examine the quality of “humanness” against the background of science fiction and “singularity.”
